Hi I was wondering whether I should upgrade my Graphics card or my CPU

My current Graphics Card is the GT 640 and my current CPU is the Ivy Bridge i5 3470.

right now haswell isn't an option because I purchased a 1155 motherboard a couple weeks ago lol.

If I upgrade my CPU I will go for the i5 3570K
If I upgrade my GPU I will probs go with the GTX 660
thanks

one more thing, how stupid was my choice of buying a z77 board with the 1155 chipset 1 week before haswells launch (I already had a motherboard, I was just upgrading)
so yeah lol cheers

Hey,
I am assuming this is a gaming desktop, so I would definitely upgrade the gpu. I wouldn't worry about your cpu it is more than enough to run current modern games.
Cheers

Upgrading the GPU would give better performance in games. Plus, if you do end up upgrading to Haswell or Broadwell down the road, the GPU can be used on the new platform, as the CPU wouldn't be.

Upgrading the GPU will drastically improve gaming performance.

Upgrading your CPU will give you no increased gaming performance, as your CPU is quite powerful for gaming as it is right now and your GPU is weak for gaming purposes.

Wait a little until upgrading your GPU, don't make the Haswell mistake once more. GTX 760 might soon be out, as Nvidia is rolling out the 700 series as I'm writing this.

Not stupid at all if you are planning on an upgrade to a 3570K that can overclock. If you weren't planning on overclocking, an H77 would have worked just as well, but cheaper.
