How are both cards performing when overclocked at the same frequency? I haven`t found any recent articles or threads comparing the two when both are OCed.

Somebody stated the following (april 2012):

Stock speeds
Stock 7870 = 1000/4800
Stock 7850 = 860/4800
difference = ~20%

with GPU Tweak unlocked overclocks
OC 7870 = ~1250/5600
OC 7850 = ~1250/5600
difference = 6-8%

Is this true? Does the gap closes when they`re clocked the same?
I can`t reach 1250mhz with my 7850, i can get a stable 1150/6000@1.18V or 1200/5000@1.22V in benchmarks and games.
Is there a small or significant improvement for a 7870@1150mhz over a 7850@1150mhz?

I mostly play titles such as Fallout New Vegas or Skyrim, both heavily modded (2K textures + ENB). Right now i get ~40fps in Skyrim with my 7850@1150mhz at 1280x1024 resolution. I want to upgrade to a Full HD display so i`m expecting further fps drops. Would a 7870 do any better? How much would the frames drop from 1280x1024 to 1920x1080?

My specs: 2500K@stock, 8GB, MSI 7850 2GB Twin Frozr III

Thanks!

The Differene will still be quite a fair bit because performance is not just based on clocks, but also the number of Cores. The 7870 has 1280 cores while the 7850 has 960. Even if you match clock for clock, the one with the higher cores win.

At the same clocks?

Also do you happen to know the fps impact when going from 1280x1024 to 1080p screen resolution?
