I have a few questions about OCing Athlon II x2 255 on mobo Asus M4A78LT-M LE. As a start I try to find my max FSB and then OC the CPU. I reduce the FSB-CPU multiplier to around 8, and I also reduce my NB multiplier in order to don`t get them OC`ed. I Also try to reduce my Memory ( 2 x Kingston 4GB 1333Mhz) Freq. to 400. This is where my first problem occurs, the DRAM freq is set in the bios to 400, but when I monitor it, it runs on 1:2 Ratio with the FSB. However I bumped up my FSB from 200 to 270Mhz and managed to get it stable when setting the DRAM to 400, however if I select any of the other 2 options ( 533 or 667) windows won`t start up. I set All voltages to auto. Whenever I try to set my CPU Voltage manually I can`t boot up, automatically it runs around 1.48 - 1.51 Volts. I also don`t know why I have CPU Voltage option and Chipset Voltage option and what`s the difference between them. Another question is - Is it better to run a higher FSB with a lower multiplier or a lower FSB with higher multiplier. . I am also wondering can I boost my FSB more if I change the VDDNB voltage or any other voltage and to how much I have to set it, since I don`t know the default settings. For now I`ve reached 270 FSB and 3.5 GHz CPU speed, but I saw many people reaching 3.9 Ghz without even touching the voltages. I have a bigger heatsink and better cooler than the stock one`s so I want to get them into action.
