I am wondering if I should upgrade my current cpu. I purely use my rig for games like BF3 (soon BF4) and sometimes mmo's, also I am running them at 2560x1440.
Current setup:
i7 950 @ 3.840ghz (can run it at 4.0 but 3.8 for some reason proved more efficient in some games)
Asus p6t motherboard
12gb RAM @ 1600+mhz
GTX 780

Now my question is will I be seeing a big performance upgrade coming from this setup, ofcourse I will transfer the gtx780 and possibly add another in the future.
If so, which cpu would anyone recommend: 3770k or 4770k, or possibly Sandy-e or wait for the Ivy-e (supposingly I could hold out with this setup till September/October)?
Money isnt really a problem but ofcourse a 4770k or sandy-e or later ivy-e would make quite a diffirence especially if it doesn't really make any significant diffirence in gaming. Also, is there anything certain yet about what socket/chipset Ivy-e will be using?

That pretty much confirms what I was already thinking. I'd probably see no or very little diffirence in game performance from a extreme edition vs 4770k. Same with games like BF3 which already run at a solid 60fps with my current setup. Only thing I am kinda curious about is if games like Rift or Tera (mmo's) would run a bit better with say a 4770k. With my current system some of these games really run like crap and look like they're not even close to utilizing full gpu load etc. Main concern is now, would this get any better with a new cpu or are these games just so poorly designed they never run great on any system?

Yeah I hope so.. Thing is though, in games like Rift/Tera my CPU usage never gets beyond 40-50% but I was guessing this has to do with the fact most games don't utilize all threads and so overall CPU usage isnt maxed out. (Ofcourse it is maxed out at that moment for the number of threads the games are using)

Lol you full of it. I have a I7 920 and a 3770k both with gtx 770s. And the 920 plays great with the gtx 770. Its not a mismatch. Most games are VPU and not so much cpu. They are not 2x faster with the I7 3770k. Most people would not even noticed playing them unless you bench marked it.

Its far better to get a new graphics card than to get a new MB, Ram, etc.

People act like omg its a mismatch that will never work. Total farce stop spreading this dribble please.
