How do I prep/reformat 4 segate 3tb drives with data to make single raid 10. P9X79 Asus, win 8 using the four SATA 3Gb/sec (blue ports). Not using as boot drive. Also what is the optimum sector 4k?
create two identical raid 0's each having two of your 3tb drives. Once you get the two raid 0's arrays setup use them (the raid0 arrays not the 4 individual drives) and create a raid 1.
I have set up 4 - four terabyte drives in Raid 10 on Win 8 64 (The raid controller says 3.6 Tb each which is fine.) This will give me approx 14.4 TB in Raid 10. However, I am confused over whether to change the basic drives to dynamic. I tried to mirror all of them in basic, but it would only do 2 at a time. Then I read your thread on doing a two step operation. Create the two in mirrored, then create the other two in mirrored. Now I would have to go back to the controller at start up and create a RAID 1? from the two new volumes? Any help would...
