Trying to migrate OS on my SSD

I'm using a 120 GB Samsung SSD. I downloaded the "Samsung Data Migration - v.2.0" software, and it's displaying that I have 115 GB of stuff that won't fit on the SSD, however it's only showing me about 2.8 GB worth of files I can exclude from the migration (after scanning all files). What can I do to just migrate my Windows 8 OS on there right now?

You're trying to fit 10lbs of potatoes into a 5lb bag. You must exclude some spuds from the process. And only you can decide which ones to exclude. Except for the dirt in the bottom of the bag (that 2.8GB) the software can't decide.

You can't.

Either reduce the size of the current installation (uninstall and remove a bunch of stuff), or simply install fresh on the SSD. Installing fresh is almost always my recommendation.

Stuff to remove - old Windows updates, restore points, etc. But I still recommend a fresh install.

You're starting out with a blazing fast drive, why bog it down with all the old crap from your current installation?

Hi,

Look for you downloads folders for movies and pictures, you might want to uninstall some program and reinstall them from there.

+1 on reinstall but it's a painful and time consuming task, unless you got virus or serious problem I would clone.

If you can get the whole thing to under 100GB, then yes it will probably work. Even that is high. You must leave that empty space for TRIM to work.

Aright so I erased the files in my recycling bin and now I'm down to 50 GB. Here's the issue now. When I start running the migration program, it freezes around the 13th to 16th second in.

Freezes for how long? Any error message?
