Should I add more thermal paste?

Hi I am building a new rig and will be using Artic Freezer 13 as my CPU cooler. This product already comes with some ARCTIC MX-4 on the bottom of the heatsink but is this enough?

I have some artic silver 5 left, should I add a dab more or is the paste stuck on the bottom of the freezer 13 enough?

Also does mixing the two different thermal compounds matter?

What is on there is fine. Too much is almost as bad as none.

yes it matters you don't even want to mix up old and new thermal paste. Just dont do it, more is less.

the pre-applied paste is enough for the job. you only need a little paste just to fill the gaps.

Don't add the MX-4 to the current paste on the cooler. Doesn't work like that , just the same if you have a petrol engine car and need even a tiny bit of fuel, you wouldn't use diesel

If you want to use MX-4 just use some Isopropyl and remove the old paste and apply new

AS 5 sets, MX 4 doesn't. Mixing definitely not on, and the amount of MX 4 is calculated such that it won't overflow. Also MX4 is non-conductive, whereas AS 5 is highly conductive, so you don't want it spilling over on to your mobo.
