I'm building a new gaming PC and am having some issues with the graphics card:

Processor: Intel i5 3750k
Motherboard: MSI z77a-gd55
Graphics Card: Gigabyte geforce GTX 660

I assembled the PC and tried to start but got no display, and my monitor reported no input. I started checking part by part and discovered that removing the Graphics card made everything work fine. I have windows installed and everything else is perfect.

Yes, it's connected to the PSU. plugging my DVI cable into the motherboard directly or into the GPU makes no difference. I even tried switching the port I have the GPU installed in with no effect, so I don't think its my motherboard. Is there any way I can set my computer to boot without the graphics card so I can try to troubleshoot it?

Thanks for the help

Sorry, could you clarify exactly what I'm looking for?

On thE main bios page Is going to be a bios rev number mst times it on the top right. Or it stuck to the top of the bios chip. What your looking for s to see if your bios is old and need to be updated. Say your bios s a01 and on msi web page the last update was a06. Your bios would be missing five bios patches.

Tried that. Here's what I get:

If video cable is plugged into MB, can boot into BIOS or straight to Windows.
If video cable is plugged into GPU, no display until windows has booted. No windows splash or bios splash. I hit delete to enter bios, and can tell by the leds that I have entered BIOS, but no display.

Also I tried installing one of my higher performance games and got terrible frame rate which leads me to believe that I'm using the integrated GPU instead of the gigabyte.

Thanks for sticking with me!

Cnash that the way a gpu and ipgpu work. There both working fine at post.
Leave the mb set to peg and under it turn off multi monitor support. It turn off the intel ipgpu unless you want leave it on in case the gpu goes bad.
Look to see if you installed lucience logic MVP software some times it on a mb installer cd. This software tries to bond a ipgpu with a gpu for higher frame rates..the free software was buggy the newer version that you have to buy is more stable if you want to try it. On new builds make sure you installed the intel chipset drivers from intel. Then the newest gpu drivers and newest direct x updates.

Thanks. It seems to be working properly now. I'll chalk it up to a rookie mistake in computer building.

For any that see this thread: Plug DVI into GPU, NOT MB and set integrated gpu settings to PEG
