I am looking at these two GPUs
Right now I have an EVGA 560ti.
I am looking at
Gigabyte GTX 770 OC Windforce
MSI GTX 770 Lightning
EVGA GTX 770 Superclocked ACX
Or
EVGA GTX 780 ACX
I would rather spend less money and most I would be gaming at is 1920x1080 (have a 1680x1200 right now)
Is the 770 enough for my needs or is the extra 200 worth it ? No dual monitors and I play games like Borderlands, BioShock, and want to play Remember Me, AC3, stuff like that. Not many shooters really. Not even Metro or Crysis.

Radeon 8k series will be out soon, these cards barely run with the 7970 and cost much more, wait it out and see what happens. lets see what VALUE AMD brings. The 7970 as far more than enough for what you are doing.Good idea. I'll wait it out a month or so.
But while at that what is the best of the 3 770s? Seems like the only one I can find in stock for 400 is the Wind force. Is it a good card that is considered high end?

should have been more specific. the new GTX barely run with the 7970 so either get a 7970 for what you are gaming or wait for the next AMD series out later this year. AMD has been winning most battles in the GPU area as of late ( below $700) as they are better at cost per FPS. up to you, but i myself have a 6950 and am waiting to see whats gonna happen

what lol. the new gtx 770 can keep up with the 7970 ghz edition for $50 less. and it overclocks just as well as a 7970.

I wasn't arguing against the statement that the HD 7970 provides equivalent performance to the 700 series. I was just interested in your speculation of the release date of the next generation AMD cards since there hasn't been anything official for them.

mail in rebates are terrible....
and not to mention overclocking headroom/power consumption/heat geneation is still better in the GTX 770 looking at the reviews...

its not a mail in, you register your product, which you should regardless, you get emails with in a few hours for all 4 games. ( my brother did it last week for a 7870 tahiti)

your $400 price point is after a $30 mail in rebate. (and that's only coinciding with a $40 promo discount)
and yes i know the games aren't mail in. it's not even registration of the product... I bought a bioshock infinite/tomb raider/blood dragon card for like $25... and they only require you to go to their website and put in basic info and stuff and they email you the codes.

coming for a Intel fan that games with a lowely i5 i already feel superior in this argument with my knowledge the 8350 spanks that over priced chip of yours. anyway on to better things and not make this thread an argument about how good a chip the horrid company Intel makes. make your own decision i prefer value, get what you want. the 7970 is better than what you have and give you 4 games for free which is easy to get.

you can get the games code for $25 off of ebay making the GTX 770 still cheaper lol.
and say what you want. the i5s still outperform the 8350 because the games aren't optimized for 8 cores lol. and the intel performs better clock for clock as well as runs cooler.
not to mention XFX coolers are TERRIBLE..... get a MSI/gigabyte/Asus one...
Just because you know nothing about GPUs doesn't mean you should spread lies about them too lol.
And if the OP wants to get a 7970 ghz edition, ($420 before rebate, 400 after rebate)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Sapphire Vapor-X cooler is WAY better than the shit XFX puts on theirs...

Ya. pretty much any of the 300+ cards will be a MAJOR upgrade for you graphics wise.
Well. pretty standard questions before buying used GPUs.
How long has he had it?
Does he clean it regularly?
Did he overclock it? (above the factory overclock)
How long of a warranty is left if any? (MSI lightning edition has a 3 year warranty i think. Unless your cousin has a BE which then has a 1 year warranty)

and say what you want. the i5s still outperform the 8350 because the games aren't optimized for 8 cores lol. and the intel performs better clock for clock as well as runs cooler.
not to mention XFX coolers are TERRIBLE..... get a MSI/gigabyte/Asus one...
My cousin can sell me a MSI 7970 Lightning for $350. It is NOT the GHz. Is this still a good upgrade for me for the price?
Ya. pretty much any of the 300+ cards will be a MAJOR upgrade for you graphics wise.
Well. pretty standard questions before buying used GPUs.
How long has he had it?
Does he clean it regularly?
Did he overclock it? (above the factory overclock)
How long of a warranty is left if any? (MSI lightning edition has a 3 year warranty i think. Unless your cousin has a BE which then has a 1 year warranty)
1. About 6 months
2. He cleans it like every other month
3. I don't think so (doubt it)
4. Probably still warranty for another year or so. I don't know what BE is)
That's a pretty good price then. I'd say go for it. (and just use his information and stuff for the warranty if it does randomly fail)
Someone told me MSI warranties were serial attached. I still need my cousins info?
Also, how do I check if the MSI warranty is still valid?
When he bought the card, he should have registered it with MSI on their website.
I don't think he did register it.

Radeon 8k series will be out soon, these cards barely run with the 7970 and cost much more, wait it out and see what happens. lets see what VALUE AMD brings. The 7970 as far more than enough for what you are doing.Where do you get your information lol.
AMD cards most likely won't be out until around thanksgiving or even christmas....
look lol. i can make unsupported claims too lol.

You can try registering it under your name on their website.

Mail in rebates are amazing if you actually send them in. I haven't had any issues with rebates from the dozens that I have sent in this year.

The MSI GPUs have a 3 year warranty from the manufacture date printed on the serial number.

Check the serial number for the manufacture date, it is in year/month format, and add 3 years to it to determine if it is still under warranty.
Also, consider the Powercolor Radeon HD 7970 for $330 after rebate. It doesn't have VRM cooling so it will not overclock as well as a higher priced card with a better cooling solutions but you should still be able to run this card around 1100 MHz core and have performance equal to or better than a stock GTX 770.

I would send them a email or something before hand. Most manufacturers got the bullshit thing that you must register within 15-30 days within the purchase of the product.

Just wondering. Is the GTX 770 Gigabyte Wind force OC worth the extra 50 over the 7970 Lightning (non GHz)Depends on if you need the performance or not... I usually try to stick to around 1% increase in price for every 1% increase in performance over another card (when it gets to $350+ range)... the GTX 770 gigabyte will perform around 5-20% better than a stock 7970 ghz edition (looks like average is like 10-12%) with the GTX 770 falling behind in the very few games optimized for AMD GPUs.

http://hothardware.com/Reviews/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-770-R...
Basically, $400 is roughly 14% more expensive than $350 and that falls pretty much in line with what extra performance you should expect to get out of the card.
Either card is a good buy for the price you're paying.

Lightning is the fastest reference card I believe. So a non GHz older 7970 factory overclocked is faster than factory over clocked GTX 770?
Is the 50 difference worth it given that the 7970 is used?
the other way around. GTX 770 is faster than a 7970 ghz edition which is faster than a 7970 non ghz edition.

I own MSI GPUs, there is no need to register a MSI GPU.
He'll still need the invoice for the purchase from his brother.

I meant the 7970 Lightning is the fastest 7970 reference.
Or wait a little while and crossfire two 7950's? After AMD fixes the frame time anomalies
