I am looking for the best value for the new gtx 770. I saw the reviews that were posted in the articles section and the idea that I got was that the msi lightning was the way to go but I was wondering if I am better off getting one of the lower end cards ($50 difference). I am undecided as to whether or not to overclock.

8-15% better performance. putting it on par with a 7970 ghz edition and better cooling/overclocking.

It isn't new. It's a GTX680 with a voltage bump to make it run hotter and faster. If you would buy a GTX680, then you would buy a GTX770. It is the same card. Frankly I'd look at the GTX680s as well and see if they are cheaper. Get one of them if you can for less.

Cooling has nothing to do with the brand (AMD or NVIDIA) unless your a person that likes to buy shitty reference coolers. And also I have seen 7970 ghz edition reach ridiculous speeds while I seem 770s only reaching 1300mhz (if lucky) at stock voltage.

I do agree with you that coolers have nothing to do with the brand. but the GPU chips and their power consumption/power envelope does. The Nvidia chips produce less heat than AMD chips for similar performance.

I'll guarantee you that there is ZERO GTX 770 that can reach 1300 mhz at stock voltage. You'll be lucky to hit 1150 stock voltage...

And 7970 ghz edition do overclock well but same thing... I still haven't seen one that can go over around the same (1150 mhz core) at stock voltage... post some links already.

1200 is very different than 1300 lol.
and he doesn't say if it's a straight out OC or boost... or any other detail...
