a Dell rep told my Girlfriend that the best GPU for her XPS is a ati radion hd 4850

My Girlfriend just don't want to overload her PC's

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn System Requirements

The game is designed with current high-end PCs in mind as the developers want the game to still look good in five years time. The graphics will be designed for the PC and then altered to fit the console versions, meaning the PC version will look better than the PS3 version due to the age of the console and what a PC is capable of these days in comparisson. One difference is that the console version will only be 720p whereas the PC version will have a variety of resolutions including 1080p.

Below you will see the FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, the minimum and recommended system requirements. They are pretty much the same as the system requirements released for the beta with the exception that Windows XP is no longer supported. This is because Microsoft plan to stop supporting the OS next year.

FXIV: ARR Minimum System Requirements

Operating System: Windows® Vista 32/64bit, Windows® 7 32/64 bit
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo
Graphics: NVIDIA® Geforce® 8800 Series, ATI Radeon™ HD 4770
Memory: 2GB (4GB recommended for 64bit OS)
Disk Space: 20GB.

You may notice that these are lower than the minimum system requirements for v1.0. This is because Square Enix wants the game to be more accessible and run on a wider range of PCs.

FXIV: ARR Recommended System Requirements

For the best performance you should aim to run the game on a system with at least these specifications.
Operating System: Windows® 7 64 bit
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5
Graphics: NVIDIA® Geforce® GTX 660 or higher, AMD Radeon™ HD 7950 or higher
Memory: 4GB of RAM.
Disk Space: 20GB.

So, how much you can spend, and how good (in terms of quality) you and her want to play?

I don't see why it should be fine. 350 watt PSU is already underpowered, if it was 460 watt Dell PSU, I would agreed, but not 350 watt.
Also, Dell Inspiron 570 300 watt PSU doesn't have 6 pin ancillary power connector, do your homework prior to advising!

Both power supplies has to be upgraded, use this as guide to pick up your 500 watt PSU http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx

Anything else I can help you with?

Thanks for the info. would the 7750 work with both PC's? since it requires 400w we'er not really wanting to change the PSU if possible.

There is always a good news - you have to believe me on this, 7750 doesn't require power supply upgrade, it uses only 55 watt. This is one mystery, for which there is a long explanation, I can provide if necessary.
However, simply, 7750 card doesn't have additional power supply connector, so all power comes through PCIE slot, and this slot can only provide 75 watt.

So, when choosing 7750, make sure that it is DDR5 not DDR3, DDR5 is faster for games!

Anything else I can help you with?

I went to newegg and looked it up and wanted to know what one would be the best

newegg 7750 list

thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there is no fool proof card, every one has at least one or 2 bad reviews, performance wise those 3 cards are most powerful, since they have been factory overclocked:

So, I would recommend to think about return policy, or invest in some type of store warranty (so that you can exchange it within longer period of time) - most reviewers report problems within first couple months of use.

Well my Girlfriend is buying one for her XPS first, and those should work for the inspiron 570 as well?

You can try 7770 card on XPS using Molex to 6 Pin adapter like this

12-200-106-Z01

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200106

Since it requires 2 Molex connectors your XPS might have them, I doubt that Inspiron 570 power supply have that many spare ones.

Open your XPS and count those extra connectors

My Girlfriend got the 7750, and she can only play on minimal settings, any other GPU option that's better? btw the PC she's having issue in is the XPS studio 8000, it turns out the PC does have the 6 pin connector.
