Looking for the best graphics card for under £400

I am looking for the best graphics card for about £400 I currently have not got any of the parts for the build but this is my list.

Fractal Design Define R4
ASUS Sabertooth Z87 TUF
Haswell i5-4670K 3.40GHz
Corsair 16GB DDR3 1866MHz Vengeance Performance Memory
Corsair Professional AX860 Fully Modular 80 PLUS Platinum 860W PSU
two Samsung 256GB 840 Pro Series SSD

currently unsure on cooling options.

I want to be able to play games like battlefield 3, Arma 2/3 and Skyrim on high settings with 40+ FPS. The budget for the card I have set at about £400 can it be done?

this will be my first ever pc build so if I am major derping on something please point it out.

Thank you in advance for your help

  1. Best answer
    GTX 770.
  2. HD7970 GHZ edition if you prefer getting few demanding titles for free.
  3. From what I've seen the 7970 GHz Edition is slightly better than the 770.
But if you want to go 770,

MSI GTX 770 Lightning > Zotac GTX 770 AMP! > Palit GTX 770 Jetstream > Gigabyte GTX 770 OC Windforce > EVGA GTX 770 SC

The first 3 are hard to find, while the Windforce is ~£260 and the EVGA is ~£275. The Windforce seems to perform better and quieter though.
  4. The HD 7970 GHz has better overclocking potential.

Thank you for the suggestions did not think people would reply that fast. I have had a look at the MSI GTX 770 Lightning on ebuyer for £376.22 (pre order) so its under my price and that's always good any idea on how it would preform FPS wise?

    thanks -Max

As this will be my first build I think I am going to go with a safe over clock nothing too extreme. but ill keep it in mind thank you

  7. It can play every game with very good 50+ fps including Crysis 3 at 1080p. Although, Crysis 3 with 4xAA will still cause a drop in FPS down to 30. So just don't do that.
