Got this laptop from work 6 months ago. I decided to restart it today and I opened the "Task Manager" on Performance tab. I see that almost half of the bar is full. Why?

I know that background stuff load on start up. but more than 3GB?

I open my "processes" with "all users" to see what is the problem. When I sum the numbers, I get about half of it.

Even with mysqld, googledrive, "lync" and what not.. I can't see how these stuff take more than 3GB memory?

Can someone please explain this phenomenon?

Would have to see it to be sure, prob have some allocated to video and a fair amount going to apps that load at startup, might get something like WinPatrol (free) and go to it's start up tab and see what all loads at boot and disable all that's not needed (like Adobe, printer things, etc) anything that loads at start you're not sure of - Google it, laptops load a lot of needed things for graphic, touch support, etc.
