I recently got myself a new Motherboard (Asus P8 z77-v lk), I will be getting a new CPU once i have 200euros. but at the moment I still have my old CPU (intel core 2 quad q6600) I was hoping someone with a more technical mind could help me. can I install my new motherboard with my old CPU to use until i get the new CPU (Intel Core i5 3570K Ivy Bridge)

thanks for any help you can give me

Nope, not possible. Your new motherboard uses the LGA 1155 socket. Your old CPU uses the LGA 775 socket. Unfortunately for you, these are not compatible. You'll either have to wait until you can get the 3570k or get a motherboard for the Q6600.

If you gotta wait a long time before you can get the 3570k and are still able to return the motherboard, you might want to consider that. Haswell has just been released and uses a new socket.
