I had an old computer sitting in my garage that I needed to reboot after about one year with a new system. I brought it in and tried to power it up, but the fans spun for about a second and the system shut down. I disconnected everthing from the MB except the CPU and fan, and two sticks of memory and tried again to power it up with the same results. I reset the CMOS and tried a third time with the same results. The system was working fine when I upgraded and moved to a new system, so I don't know what would have happened. Any thoughts or suggestions would really be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

The garage isn't a great place for a computer.
Assuming that your garage is the "stereotypical" type, ie fairly high air humidity and dirty, it's likely that your PC has suffered in this climate over the last year.

I mean no offence in this assumption by the way, that's just the typical image that pops into my head when someone says "garage" :p

Yeah, no, none taken! I pretty much figured the same myself. I blew it out with compressed air and looked at all the components and capacitors and none looked "popped". Everything looks good, it just won't stay running.
