Looking to ask the community for advice here.
I casually browse around on search engine and read professional data recovery could cost up to a $1000. then I read you there were apps that let you do it yourself, which is what I wanted to try.
I want to listen to others that had tried do-it-yourself with apps method and listen to their experiences. What apps do you recommend and how successful was the recovery?
My case was with this stupid 750gb Seagate drive. It came with my emachine and I had heard some bad stories about Seagate drive and download their diagnostic tool to monitor the status every so often cuz I was too lazy backup the large amount of data.
I got the brand new emachine like two – three years back and then recently all a sudden ,it stop reading and I couldn’t access any data on it. And since my western digital slave drive depend on it to read, I couldn’t access that too. But the wd drive like couple years older than sg and it still runs fine. Seagates has such damn poor craftsmanship.
Anyways since it didn’t stop working from impact or something, what are my chance of getting everything back with a data recovery app? Can anybody recommend some good apps for the job?
I read somewhere about copying the drive image and putting it in a new drive, that sound like an easy and convenient solution to me. I got some personal data and valuable school work and saved games and all, so I rather recover the data myself and let prying eye look at it. And I don’t want to spend a fortune on it either.
Never buying Seagate drives again…
A curious question I have is how do these apps work if bios won’t read it, what equipment do you need to read the data???
