HI, i have a msi B75MA-E33 board and i have plugged in two internal hdd'sboth seagate, one is a Barracuda 7200.7 40gig and the other is an U series 9 160gig. They are both ide drives and are plugged in to sata ports via an adapter. when it is plugged in it attempts to instal the drivers, but then it fails. When i go into device manager under disk drives (or what ever its called) it shows no driver installed but when you go into the drivers page it has what looks like 2 drivers so i try and update them but says drivers are uptodate even though at the begging it says no drivers installed. Please help. Confused

If you think your computer is a problem here than do a Clean Install of windows to see the results. But I think you get me all wrong, I am talking about "Encloser/Case" that is what you put your HDD in and connect via usb cable, not a usb cable. Sometimes refer to as a "PATA To SATA USB Encloser/Case", it is a box. If you can borrow it from someone than try it.

Yeah it has 4 sata ports but no ide ports. i have 3 hdd's, one is a sata and is running the os and works fine, the other 2 run through an adapter that converts it from an ide to sata so it can plug into the board, the computer recognises the other hdd's but wont install the drivers and it will only show up in device manager and not the disc management. It is seen by the bios too,

ok i have borrowed a usb version and when it shows up in disk management it says it need initializing. When i do it it tells me disc not ready, im guessing my computer is a problem here because my friend who lent me the cable said he tried the drive on his system and it work fine.

the lead i got is an ide to usb, does that not work in the same way as an enclosure/case? its the same lead my friend used on his system which worked. Maybe your right though, a clean install might be the answer. Cheers for your help!
