Hello,

I have been reading through these forums for a week now trying everything I have read to no success.
I have a brand new custom built computer. When I try to installed windows 7 or windows 8 onto my machine, my HD is not detected during the Windows installation.

I have tried every method on the internet and still no success. I have contacted the manufacturer of my computer, the manufacturer of my motherboard, the manufacturer of my HD, and Microsoft and all roads lead to dead ends.

I have:

1TB WD HD WD10EZEX
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H

I have done the following:

Made sure all connections are properly in place and secure

Ensured my boot sequence is in the correct order

Ensured that RAID is disabled

Installed my pre-install SATA control drivers from Gygabytes website via USB .. Didnt work

Tried switching my BIOS to IDE.. didnt work

Plugged my ethernet cord into my machine to see if Windows would automatically install my drivers through the web during install.. didn't work

I am at my breaking point. I really do not want to send the machine back, I waited for over a month to get it and have tried everything I possibly can for the past week. If anyone has any ideas please post it here I will try anything at this point.

Solution
If Windows does not detect the HDD then you are at a standstill and have to either: (1) see if another OS (Linux Ubuntu) can see the HDD, or (2) put the HDD in another machine and see if that machine can see it in Windows, or (3) RMA the HDD.

Can you see the HDD in BIOS? If the drive is not detected in BIOS; to what SATA port is the drive connected? If the drive is connected to the Marvell and not the Intel controller you may need to activate the Marvell controller in BIOS.

Yes, my HD is detected in the BIOS. How do I tell if its connected to the Marvell or the Intel Controller?

Also, to answer the second part of the question. I have the HDD plugged into SATA port 0 which is the correct port according to the MB manual
