Hello all.
I am about to upgrade my current i5-2320 cpu to haswell i7-4770k, but i hear too many people that are not very happy with their perfomance (refering mostly to gaming) so i would like to ask how much difference there would be if i upgrade my cpu; in things like booting, game loading times, fps etc. (by the way i have an asus gtx 570 and as concerning my motherboard now i have asus p8z68v-lx and i will get asus maximus vi formula)

Thanks a lot for your opinions.

The things that you listed that you would like to see speed increases from (boot time, game loads, and fps) will have minimal effect with a processor upgrade.

To increase your boot speeds and game load speeds, get a SSD.
To increase your FPS, get a better graphics card.

That being said, upgrading from an i5-2320 (sandybridge) to a haswell chip is definitely worth it, though if all you are doing is gaming, you would be better off getting a i5-4670k since the hyperthreading on the i7 will do nothing for games. Once you put an overclock on the chip it will be a noticeable increase from the stock i5-2320 speeds.

thanks for your answer and i am sorry this is my first post i forgot to post some more details.

I have an ocz ssd vertex 4 120GB and i am pretty happy with its perfomance. And the gpu also performs really well.

Overall the only part of my pc that i am not happy with is the cpu. But after all these reviews i have read made me a little not sure if it worth upgrade to haswell. And i wanted a second opinion if the i7-4770k will perform significantly better that my old i5-2320... (also i do some photo/video editing and coding for my university)

you'll get a nice boost in processor bound applications, however it won't increase frame rates substantially since you have a gtx 570. A ssd might be a better upgrade for you currently if you don't have one, otherwise a nice gpu upgrade would make a noticeable improvement (you can pick up a Samsung 256gb 840 ssd and a gtx 770 for $580 combined - about the cost of a new 4770k and quality motherboard - for a drastic improvement in loading times and gaming performance)

Yes, the i7-4470k is significantly better than the i5-2320. You are going from a mid grade processor that is now 2 generations old to the latest tech, top of the line performance chip.
