I have Cat 6 going from my computer to the router. I went into the small icon but in the bottom right hand corner
-clicked broadband connection
-connect
-put my password in
-connecting through WAN miniport
-error 651: the modem has reported an error.

Every time! Gaaa!

I don't know if it wants a different password/username or somthing...

-does it mater where I plug it into? (of course not the first one)
-I know this is a stupid question but I have only ever used wireless

Thank You!!!

hello guys, i have the same problem and i tried everything which is mentioned here, but i cant solve it. I cant connect via ethernet(wireless is OK), but it connects with others pc, so the problem is my pc. when i go to see the properties of the connection, there is a physical adress full of 0... i read somewhere that the problem might be the fact that i moved in the UK from Greece, and i have to make some configurations, is that possible??? If you want i can attach what i get from the ipconfig.. Please help guys!

cheers
daniel

This is a old tread. What I can say is to
-update your drivers
-disable the wireless card
-you dont need a password
-you dont need to go down into the bottom right hand corner of windows and connect to broadband, it not like wireless. it should auto join your router.

Hope this helps in some way
