Hello everyone,
I am a very new member to this website and I signed up because I am facing a problem with my pc and I hope the experts in this site could solve the issue before I send my pc to a repair shop or graveyard. :)
Its been two months since I am facing this problem with my computer. If I use my pc for about 2-4 hours of normal use, or if I open multiple tabs while surfing net, or if I play games for 15-30 minutes, then my computer is first getting hanged, remaining in that state for 1-3 seconds and then its shutting down. I have also seen that the red light on my cabinet that represents the hdd light is turning off when my pc is automatically shutting down. Again after some time, like after 15-30 seconds or max. 45 seconds my pc is restarting automatically. These automatic shut downs and auto restarts have happened till now for each day 5-6 times in these two months when I was working on it.
I had also send it to a pc repair shop but they didn't face any shut downs at all !!! The engineer was saying that there was no problem with hardware, yet he cleaned up my pc from dust and also formatted it.
But when I brought it back to my home, then after one day again the same problem continued. But this time if i multitask or surf the net for 3-4 hours then its again turning off but this time after 15-30 seconds later I had seen the hdd light is glowing for 3 seconds and then turning off. (Previously if my hdd light would glow back then my pc would restart automatically but not this time so I have to manually press the reset button on the cabinet for restarting my pc).
And when my pc starts to shut down then if i restart it manually then even if i do light tasks on it still it will keep on shuting down. It will run for 10-15 minutes and then turn off and then i again restart it and it goes on and on.
Even while writing this letter my pc has undergone 3 shutdowns and i had to press the reset button for restarting it. And no program was opened on my pc except this forum.
My computer specifications :-
1. Intel core 2 duo 2.4 ghz E4600. (5 years old)
2. Intel DG41KR mobo LGA 775 socket. (1 year old) [I had changed to this mobo before my asus p5gc 945, lga 775 socket, ddr2 ram supporting mobo was dead].
3. Seagate 160 gb hdd sata. (5 years old)
4. Zion 4gb ram 1333 fsb ddr3. (1 year old) [Previously I had transcend 1 gb ddr2 ram but after i installed this mobo this ram is of no use]
5. PSU-cooler master 500 watts xtreme power plus series. (1 year old) [Previously I had zebronics atx smps 450 w]
6. Zebronics atx cabinet. (5 years old)
7. graphics card - none. 8. UPS - none. 9. LG 17 inch LCD monitor.
Pls note:- I am not mentioning rest of the components becoz i dont think they are of any importance or having any problem. [I know that this configuration is too old for you guys but before 5 years from now this was one of the best mid-range pc configuration. Becoz there was no intel i3,5,or 7 at that time.]
If you all see then it seems that my processor and hdd is five years old, now thats a thing. But after my pc shutted down then I saw that the processor fan still running. The power supply green light on my cabinet was also on. I dont know but there may be over heating issue although there is no sign of it. But the most important thing is my hdd light is turning of in each case. I had also faced this type of problem before but that time it was the mobo but this time I have got a new mobo.
So there are lots of things to arise my question that exactly which component of my pc is to blame, so that I can change that part and my pc will be fine again.
I am very sorry guys for writing such a long thread but I am a new member and just 18 years so my curiousity is very big. And I know my pc is outdated in its configuration part but just at this moment i cant buy a pc but later i will buy an i5 or i7 one. So please help me with this problem.
Oh yes, and I used this pc for entertainment purpose like playing games like Prince of persia SoT, POP WW, max payne 1 and 2, IGI 1 and 2, vice city, halo 1 etc. And also for viewing 480p or 720p movies, surfing lots on internet etc.
And thank you to all in advance !!!!! :wahoo:

Download and run Seagate Diagnostics (Seatools for Windows)
http://www.seagate.com/support/external-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/freeagent-pro-classic/seatools-win-master/
I expect it to fail! Advise you to back up any data like music and pictures as soon as you can...

Ok I will run that seagate diagnostics but is there any way to check my processor or mobo in the same way ?
If the problem is with my hdd and if I have to buy a new one then what will I buy and from which brand (like seagate or wd, or 3.0 gb/s or 6.0 gb/s, etc) so that the respective configuration of my pc will not get any damage and the hdd will match with my pc's parts.
And is there any problem with my processor or mobo, what do u think ?
And I forgot to mention that after I restart my pc manually, then each time my pc shows an error on screen which states that its a bluescreen error. Off course I dont know whats that but do u know which part of a pc could cause such error ?

There are diagnostic cards that you can plug into your mobo that test and generate error codes, but I'm not sure how good they are! Meanwhile best rule out the easier ones, HDD and Memory. It's possible your RAM is causing the problem, usually easy to test if you had more than one stick by simply running on one at a time. As you only have one, try memtest 86 if your HDD is OK. Ideally download the bootable version that you can run from a disk and test the whole of your RAM without involving Windows.

I have updated my second thread so pls see that and if I run this test then will it run automatically because I had never run such tests and I am just young to try this test for myself. And yes I have another Starlite 2gb ram 1333 fps ddr3. And I need to tell that previously both my rams were istalled on my pc but now I removed the starlite one few days ago.

We'll try to run the HDD test 1st to eliminate that. You'll see a screen like below, tick the box next to your HDD and choose Basis Tests. Try the Short Generic and if it passes that try the long one

Another thing to try, remove your RAM and replace it with the Starlite stick. If the problem persists move it to another slot (Slots have been known to fail).
Meanwhile if your HDD has failed, have you considered an SSD? it would completely transform your PC as load tiimes are a fraction of those using an HDD. Ideally you would then need an HDD to store stuff like pictures and music, but it wouldn't need to be anything fancy.
As for the Blue Screen, try to write down the values on the screen, ie the Stop Code. Also it would be handy to know which version of Windows you have..

Please dont mind but my windows is not genuine, its just a copy of windows 7 ultimate eternity edition. Actually I am from India and here we get lots of pirated software to use. Just I have to keep the windows update off. Actually prices of things like hardware and software in India is double than the international prices due to export duties, sales tax and so on. SSd's are way too high in price. And I would like to try these things when I assemble my next pc, but not now.
When I was running that sea tools for windows then a message flashed out saying I am missing this component -> Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer). Is it necessary to install this before running sea tools. And if it is then will this microsoft .NET framework get installed in a non-genuine copy of windows that is in my pc ?

Can't answer that I'm afraid, you can only try it to see. An alternative would be to download Seatools for DOS which you could run from a CD or Flash drive without involving Windows

I had also seen that while backing up my contents into a flash drive or pen drive, the moving process was too slower than ever. I had also archieved some files using winrar and seen that while archieving or unpacking the contents, in both cases the process was slow and also showed error few times that winrar is not responding. But at last I archieved my data and got it backed up.
But could this issue prove that my hdd is going to die. Or this issue is related with my processor or mobo ?
Just tell your opinion, please. And refer a good suitable hdd for this configuration of my pc, please.
Just few minutes before posting this letter I faced another problem. The red light on the cabinet that is the hdd light turned off but my ps's power supply (green light) was on and guess what my pc's screen didn't turned off. The displays were there but the pc was hanged for 1.30 minutes. Then suddenly my screen's display turned off and then a blue coloured screen appeared saying -> "A problem has been detected... so windows shutted down..... Check to see hardware or software is installed properly....." Then I waited for 30 seconds in that state of blue screen and after that I pressed the reset button, then my pc started again showing the options like -> "start windows normally etc ". So what do you think whats the problem, please help me.

Difficult to recommend anything when your Windows installation is suspect. You could try sfc and chkdsk to see if errors can be rectified. Start Button and type CMD. Right click Command Prompt and run as Administrator.
Type sfc /scannow and then hit enter
If still failing , from Command Prompt as above, type chdsk /f /r then hit enter
Select Y and enter, restart your PC to run the disk check. Note spaces before /

After my pc shutted down this time, remaining in that state, I opened my cabinet and saw that my mobo's heatsink have become hot, my processor has also turned hot and my hdd's is the hottest one. The processor's fan was running, the mobo's green light, and power supply light was also turned on. But guess what, when I touched my hdd, I didn't fell any vibration that means the disk wasn't rotating. But when I restarted my pc I felt a sudden vibration in my hdd and it seemed that the hdd became to spin again.
Perhaps the cpu or mobo was hot due to these repeated restarts, but that means my hdd is to blame for all this problem. Am I right, Sir ?

Its ok but I will try to test my pc with a new hdd that u mentioned. If the same problem continues then I will try to check for overheating problems. And I will keep my pc off till I buy a new hdd to keep my cpu and mobo safe . And thank you very much to "dodger46" for your outstanding support and help. And if the change of hdd solves the issue then i will choose your solutions as the best, thank you.
