When u choose a board the cpu must be the same socket that it says on the website for lets say the mother board the m5a97 r2, it should say am3+ somewhere on the item page in big letters and that is the same thing to be with the cpu ur looking for so if u want that board then u need a am3+ fx cpu or AM3 phenom II or Athlon II cpu. Now for the A10 5800k it should say FM2 on the site and the board has to say FM2 and have that socket, intel has lga 1150/1155/2011/ Amd has AM3+/AM3/FM2/FM1 motherboards with matching socket cpus, not all boards support all cpus, as for AM3+ there are 95watt cpus and 125watts cpus for example and 125watt cpus will not work with 95watt boards, the motherboards website from the manufacturer should supply a list of supported cpus
