This is my parts list for my new build. I am planning on doing some overclocking of the GPU, but not of the CPU (obviously). I am using this primarily as a DAW, but also as a gaming PC. My budget is $1250.00. Does anyone have advice or insight on a particular component that they would change?

Also, Does anybody have general advice for a maiden voyage build? I will gladly take all of the help I can get!

Cut the RAM down to 8GB. Use the extra money on a better (not necessarily bigger) PSU like a Seasonic G-series or XFX model in the 500W-550W range. The Corsair CX PSUs were built by CWT, not Seasonic, using some inferior Samxon capacitors known for early failure. In particular they don't like heat. They don't exactly suck, and are fine in office PCs, but I would not put one in a gamer.
Do you have a mechanical HDD for your data?

I always recommend Seasonic as they are all I use and sell now (they make some Corsair and XFX psus too). Looks like you have made some good choices here. Really no need to overclock the gpu unless you need a few extra frames to get a game smooth. Personally I would make some changes based on my preferences, but all of that hardware I can recommend....except Windows 8. I still prefer 64 bit 7Pro. Again though, that's a preference. Good luck with your first build!

Hey, that's a great piece of advice. I'll keep the ram and make the upgrade to a Seasonic M12II Bronze 520 W PSU. It's only about thirty dollars more. I'll just have to miss out on a dinner date or two ;)  I don't have an HDD planned, but that is because I have never historically had more than 200 GBs of data on any of my computers. If I need to in a couple of years, I can always add another SSD, can't I? :)

Thanks for the advice! I went ahead and upgraded to a SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze :)  As for windows 8, I hear it's a little faster than 7, and I'm willing to jump the learning curve to stay up with the times in case Windows 9 is a short step from windows 8. Again, thanks for your help!
