I was wondering if the 780 is finally the card to overthrow my dual N580GTX Lightning Extreme. I know that the N580GTX in benchmarks beat out dual SLI GTX 580s but not sure how SLI N580GTX would compare to a single 780.

Well I came from a single 3GB 580 lightning to a single EVGA 780 ACX card and gained an average 45 more fps @ 2560 x 1600 res on all my games I currently play (BF3, Metro last light, Far Cry 3) The exception is Crysis 3 I gained about 15 more on max settings. Your 580s are still awesome cards and will be for a while longer. My temps lowered about 5 deg in idle and 7-10 deg in load. Very quiet card and designed simular to the 580 lightning extreme with 2 fans only they don't glow or have the reverse fan option. With 2 580s depending on your resolution you run at you won't see a huge difference in fps when compared to one card like I did. But it (one 780) will still be faster and run cooler with one card so its up to you if spending $650 for that option. The one to get is the EVGA ACX superclocked version if you can find one in stock. 11% faster than the stock 780s and even beats the Titan in some games I read this week. I'm very happy with mine.

Thanks. Good to know. I'll hang on to these N580s then until Nvidia has a good SLI profile for the 780 and then get double 780s. Very helpful guys, thanks.
