AMD FX or APU?

I am looking to build a gaming desktop. I know everything I need to however I don't really have any one good to ask advice for. I was wondering if for gaming it would be better to get the best A-10 apu or the best FX(FX-8350)? Which one would I get better perfomance with and which one could I do other things in the background(A few things but nothing like video editing).

More about amd apu
  1. Get the FX and a discrete Gpu you will have way better performance all around that way apu's suck unless you like 30 fps at 720p
  2. Well I'm partial to the AMD FX-6300 when it comes to Gaming Builds. I've also recommended a lot of 3570Ks but the price difference between a 3570K and the FX-6300 is quite large (though the 3570K is faster). Throw in 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD for good measure with a solid 750W 80+ Gold PSU (I like the XFX/Seasonic models) in order to allow for enough power to upgrade. GPU wise I usually recommend an AMD Radeon 7870 2GB or GeForce GTX 660 for 1080p gaming.

    My 2 cents.
  3. It really depends upon your budget, but unless your budget is the price of the APU, then a CPU+descrete GPU will always be better.

So then for gaming specifically which would be better? I can go any price for this and I already have a GPU planned out(7800 or 7900).
