I know that it's only been released for a couple of days now but I was wondering if anyone has created a build for Flight simulator X with the new haswell i7 processor yet and if they have seen any frame rate improvement. I want to upgrade but don't want to spend the extra money if there isn't a decent increase. I have an AMD FX955 overclocked to 3.8GHz 16GB 1866 ram and 650ti 2GBDDR5 video card. I currently get about 5-10 FPS when landing (horrible) I need to know if the 4770K beats the 3770K Specifically with Flight Simulator X. Other games do not matter as much since they are more video card dependent and not as hard on the processor. I will be looking to over clock either processor to about 4.7-4.8GHz. Please I am not looking for any AMD bashing. They make a good processor for most gaming purposes but the calculations per cycle are not as high as the Intel so from what I can see so far the 8 core FX-8350 is out unless you can prove me wrong.

If you are looking to overclock, the 3770k is probably the better choice. Haswell does not overclock all that well, and you run into a heat barrier very quickly with just a slight voltage increase. I don't think even a golden sample Haswell chip on the best possible motherboard can do 4.8 GHz, at least not without water cooling.

Compared to Ivy Bridge, Haswell is only marginally faster, particularly in single threaded workloads. Once factoring in the better overclocking, you probably would be better off with Ivy Bridge, unless you have other software that benefits from Haswell's new instruction sets like AVX2.
