fx-8350 i5 2380p i5 3470s i5 3470 i5 4570s

are my choices for how much i can spend that's really the limit the AMD has virtual cores but i don't know if they are all that they are hyped to be. Especially for gaming hard core PC gamer here. as for the i5's i don't know what p and s stand for so that might be part of my decision making process.

at the moment i'm using a q6600 2.4 quad core its definitely a workhorse but its at the limit i cant push it much harder. i haven't built in a long time but i got a list going and i'm staying under 1200 so far and i'm happy with ANYTHING i buy to be honest i just want to get the best deal for my money.

Few games use more than 2-3 cores, so the 8 core amd is probably not for you. The amd cores are slower on a clock for clock basis.
The "P" suffix is for cpu's without an integrated graphics capability. For a gamer, it does not matter, you will be wanting a discrete graphics card anyway.
The "S" suffix is for a lower power part, and will operate a bit slower than the non suffixed part.
Your Q6600 has a passmark rating of 2967.
The 2380P 5586
3470S 6278
3470 6607
4570S is not yet ranked, but I would expect 5% better than the 3470S.
Among the choices , I would pick the 4570S and a Z87 motherboard.
But, there are better options in your price range if they are available to you.

A 4570 is 6% faster than a 4570S, a 4670 is 13% faster, and the absolute best gaming cpu would be the 4670K. The "K" allows a simple supported overclock which yields about 40%better capability than a 4570S
If you live near a microcenter, you can buy a 4670K for $200.
