I'm attempting to diagnose what is at fault for this issue.

The system is a Samsung 3-Series NP365E5C-S05US notebook with an AMD A6-4400M, running Windows 8.

Task manager reports that the CPU is using one core at 750MHz max. Speedfan won't report a temperature for the CPU, Speccy reports that the Core 1 temp is 108 degrees Centigrade or about 225 degrees Fahrenheit.

My best guess is that the issue is a faulty heat probe. I'm not entirely sure what controls thermal management on the CPU/board but I'm guessing it would shut down far before it reached boiling point. The system doesn't shut itself down and never feels more than slightly warm on the bottom or above the keyboard.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.
