I use my Compaq CQ56 Laptop for web browsing, and watching videos
After about an hour, it gets very hot
about 92°c
I have a cooling pad for it
Should i upgrade my CPU (AMD V140), or reapply thermal paste
The one i have been looking at is the
AMD Turion 64 x2 1.9ghz for £5(it has the same s1 socket), which has a higher passmark score, so whilst i am reapplying thermal paste, do you think it is worth it to give this better CPU a try.
ps. I know it is a bad CPU, but like i said, it is just used for browsing, and i know Compaqs get HOT, but surely they shouldn't get this hot?

Solution
Well beyond thermal paste and cleaning the fans, make sure that the

software side of things is also in order. Clean out programs you don't use

and run some cleaners like CCleaner.
