Hey guys. I was going to a tech school and I took some time off because my dad passed away and I needed to clear my head (This was 2 and a half months ago). I was planning on gonig back but lately I been seeing a lot of how its not even worth sh*t and certs are better. Anyone have real life experience with this? What do you guys think? Go back and get the diploma or don't go back and just get certs?

Just get the certs in my opinion unless you really need a foundation to learn from and know nothing about the computer industry. Certs are what employers looks at

Certs and experience are king.

Once you get some experience under your belt, most employers could care less if you have a degree from State University or Some College or No College once you have the employment history and can talk honestly and intelligently about your skillset.
Certs are nice, but make sure that you are learning the material rather than just doing brain dumps (Example, if you have an MCSE in Exchange and don't know what the Transport Hub is, you are going to throw some big red flags).

Sort of depends on what field you are in. I started as a technician but ended up a design engineer so in my case, Degrees are king.

My son went to a trade school with an inverted curriculum, that is you get a cert first, then the degree. He got a great job after the cert training, then earned his Bachelor's while working there. So I seem to agree, depending on what you are doing, cert first, then degree.
