The driver version linked by jessterman21 is version 13.4 and is provided directly by AMD. It is the latest driver available and several revisions newer than the 9.12 driver you have described on the HP site and currently installed.

If you intended to reinstall version 9.12 you would first need to uninstall the current drivers from Programs under the Control Panel, which in Windows 8 you can access by right clicking in the lower left corner where you would access the Start Screen and selecting it from the subsequent menu. Instructions for removing programs are provided here by Microsoft Support.

Thank you so much for your quick response but I am a little confused. The driver listed in my devise manager is: 9.12.2.3000. I then went to the HP download driver site and they have the very same one there : 9.12.2.3000 dated 2013/02//19. When I clicked on it to get specs it said AMD Unified graphics driver update. I just want to make sure since I am so new at this and I would appreciate your help very much. Also do I uninstall the old driver before I install the new one. Thank you again.

I installed version 13.4 from the link provided and had no problem, but when I went to my devise manager the old one from HP is still listed there. The new one 13.4 is in an AMD folder on my "C" drive. Is this fine or is there another step I have to do? Has it over written the old driver? Will wait for your answer. Thanks again.

Most likely you do not have an issue, the driver and the Catalyst Control Center have been overwritten, but you can tell for sure which drivers are effective using the DirectX]http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/diagnosing-basic-problems-with-directx]DirectX Diagnostic Tool (DXDiag)[/url]. Simply enter DXDiag while on the Start Screen, then select the display tab, the driver version should be located under the Drivers section.

If the version reported here is the 9.12 version, I would recommend uninstalling both graphics driver packages and then reinstalling the latest AMD drivers. If it is 13.4, you should be good to go.

If you see anything unexpected there, you can paste the contents of the text file created by the Save All Information… button at the bottom of DXDiag in a response here. Just be sure to use the spoiler tags when posting.

When I went into the DXDiag, the HP 9.12 version was listed so I went ahead and uninstalled both the 9.12 and the 13.4. then tried again to install the 13.4 but to no avail. I am assuming that my windows 8 (bios) will not allow me to install the 13.4. HP often offers its own drivers because its an 'oem' card. Thanks for all your help anyhow.
