Is it possible to run a SSD in the Lenovo Y410p in addition to the current 1 terabyte hard drive that is installed stock? If not, what other options would work?

Yes absolutely. In fact there are options to have it pre-installed on the lenovo website. Of course its only about a 24 gb sdd... The y410p comes with the ultrabays which make it easy to install one yourself if you get one.

Hi,

I just purchased a Y410P without the additional SSD - can you point me in the right direction of what I need to buy (which ultrabay and SSD is compatible)?

Thx

http://www.amazon.com/Universal-9-5mm-Drive-Caddy-lenovo/dp/B009RNP6RI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1358749828&sr=1-1&keywords=lenovo+9.5mm+caddy

Lenovo doesn't have the UltraBay for sale itself but I found the above on amazon.

Any SSD you like will fit in there I recommend installing the SSD as your main drive and putting the hard drive in the ultrabay slot. Make sure you get a sata III ssd and also if the games/programs you regularly use are large then go with a 256 gb or larger ssd otherwise 128 gb will do fine.

Tyler, thanks for the info that was exactly what I was looking for. What should be the size of the SSD for ideapad y410? There are a couple of options such as 1.8, 2.5, 3.5.

Thank you!
