I am looking to build a good gaming pc but for budget purposes I was wondering if it is practical to sli a gtx 770 with another nvidia graphics card and if it was which one should I do it with in order for it to help.

I am looking to build a pc where I can play games like Bioshock Infinite and Farcry 3 on max settings at around 50-60 fps.

With a single 770 you should be able to achieve that goal. You can only sli graphics cards of the same number to make it easier for you. So a 770 has to be matched to another 770 a 780 with a 780, you cant intermix them

Am I better off SLIing another graphics card together rather then just the one gtx 770 alone to give me a better kick? because I want to be safe with a gaming pc for maybe 3 years or so but also don't want to go over 1500$

No sli performance dosnst last aslong as youd think and drivers take awhile to make new games even compatible with sli getting the best single gpu card you can is always the best soloution. If you're worried about that then pony up and get the 780 its close to titans performance but alot less then titan.

You're better off going with the single most powerful card you can afford. Then down the road, should you need more power, you can likely pick up a second for much cheaper than your original purchase, or get a new card.

Either way I would advise against going with 2 weaker cards right out of the gate as it doesn't really leave you anywhere to go down the road.

So- other posters are correct in saying to SLI you need to have 2 of the same gpu. For the most part. You can use a second card of a different gpu to run physx only, but I dont recommend it. Start with one card, in future you can buy that second for SLI if its needed. ...I bought a 560 ti when they were $300 (NEW), then upgraded to SLI for $150 1 year later. Worked out damn well for me.
