I just got a new desktop pc a few months ago. I had it built and everything is working including all fans. But for some reason it keeps shutting down and restarting out of nowhere. I was playing GW2 the first time it happened and thought it was the game, it shut down and said to protect from a power surge. When it loaded back up, it was the Bios screen I believe, I changed the startup to Optimized for Asus.. since then, it just restarts and opens to the "start windows normally" screen... But it also happens while just surfing the net.
What I have..
Windows 7 Professional
Power Supply/ Thermaltake..TR2600w
Graphic/ Nvidia Geforce GTX 660
Motherboard/ Asus P8 Z77-V LX
Intel Core i5 processor/ i5-3570k

This is probably a hardware issue. Start with checking windows logs, checking your criticals and your warnings. Also, disable auto restart on system failure so you can find out what the BSOD error(s) are when it is crashing. If none of those give you a clear answer, it is time to start isolating and stress testing your components to find out which one(s) is causing your crashes.

If the system is not crashing, but losing power and restarting then it is probably the mainboard. It may be the PSU, but much more likely it's the mainboard if it cuts out and powers back on with no windows crash.
