Hello, I recently built a new rig last night and everything started up fine. However, it looks like I don't have the proper/enough cords to power my graphics card (XFX Radeon HD 7950).

The card requires two 6-pin connectors and my PSU has one open 6-pin slot and two red 8-pin slot. What would be the best way to safely power my GPU?

He is right, incorrect set up can damage your components. But let be honest, most things only fit one way and they're designed to be simple like that.

It will make no difference if all 8 or just 6 are connected, but for completeness I connect all 8 and just leave the +2 spare at the GPU end. 2 6+2 pin connectors will also work fine (may be better if you plan on upgrading in the future to a more powerful card that require 2x8 but to be honest then you'll more than likely need a more powerful PSU anyway.

You should have the connectors, the PSU comes with 1 x 6-pin PCI connector and 1 x 6+2 pin (the connectors should both be red as well I think), use both of these to connect to your GPU, they are colour coded :)

Hope that helps

So I can connect the 6-pin to 6-pin in the black slot, and the 6+2 pin in the red slot directly from the PSU to the card? I might have lost all my connectors from the PSU so I may just go out and buy some if I can't find them. Either way, they just go straight into the card with no molex'ing?

Thanks for the help! I called a local computer parts store and the guy kept talking about molexes and how if its improperly powered that it could cause damage to my mobo, the CPU or the graphics card. Glad to know it's easier than that!

Two last questions: All 8 pins on the 6+2 pin get plugged into the power supply? And I just need to buy a 6-pin to 6-pin, and a 6+2pin to 6-pin to be all set?
