Now my problems

What do I do with my computer: First and foremost I game. Online, rpg, fps, pretty much all types. I also do autocad and photoshop heavy work. Some video editing and rendering. I have 2 monitors but I only game on just the one. I can't stand multiple monitor gaming idk why. I use the second monitor for web and referencing. I thinking of upgrading one of them to a 1440p+. Also I would like to water cool my components someday. I like building computer and I have never water cooled. I know my case isn't the right one for that so I was thinking of a corsair 800D, 900D, switch 810, or something close.

BUDGET $2,000 (lower the better)

I Need to upgrade my motherboard because the one i have now is a little buggy and I need thunderport for work...so what a great excuse to get a new one right?? I was thinking of buying an asus maximus V formula for around or a little below $200. But this is where my problems begin. I know that Asus just announced the new VI series boards and they have a new formula and hero....I would be fine withe the hero. The think i like about the board is the oc'ing ability, thunderport, soundcard built in, and built in wifi/bluetooth (802.11ac on VI series). I live in Kansas City and have google fiber so the Ac wireless is very very tempting. (yes I know hard connection is better but I like the feature). Any advice here would be great! Also if I do get the new VI series I will need the 1150 socket. I would prefer the new I7 for the hyper-threading but is it worth it?

Next is the graphic card choice I want to play every game at ultra quality at 30+fps. I don't really like AA it feels unnatural so I keep it to a minimum. I do ALOT of adobe work so I would prefer nvidia (cudda cores?) BUT I was offered 2 HD 7970 for 300 a piece and some free games; I do like free :). But I am worried about the micro stuttering of crossfire. I've never experienced it before but I have been warned about it a MILLION times. So its amd or....I was considering a gtx 770 4gig version. And I want the 4gig because the multiple monitors and I may later update the second monitor to 1440p so I'd like the extra VM for future proofing (maybe sli later if I need extra power later). I also was thinking of a 780 because it is very close to the titan. But also consider I want to water cool later in the future. next is that I could wait for the 760ti version to come out and save some $$$. If anyone has any other ideas lemme know!!

SO....
2x HD 7970 for ~ $600
GTX 770 4gig ~$370-450 (possible later sli)
GTX 760ti ~ $299-??? (possible later sli)
or Different ideas.

I would water cool the cpu right off the bat with custom w/am cooler.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

How can you recommend something that isn't out yet? Anyhow, OP, Keep the 2600K and upgrade the cooling. No need to throw away money.

You can't recommend hardware that isn't out yet. No one really can.

OP - I'd say keep your PSU and upgrade the GPU like was suggested - go with a GTX 770 or a Radeon 7970 GHz edition.

I could understand your perspective if we were discussing novel hardware. However there is nothing new about the 700 series beyond the memory controller and the 780.

The idea of waiting for the release of the GTX 760 Ti was brought up by the OP. If he is willing to wait as he suggested, I have no objection to recommending a lower priced 670 SLI configuration.

I agree. I can wait for cheaper solutions. Its not too hard to extrapolate the performance of of the 760ti but the uncertainty of the card and having existing solutions I was just picking people's brains. But I am worried about the amount of vmem of the 760ti (don't know much about the card another than guessing). Arguing over a not released card wasn't the point XD

The card will come with 2GB on a 256-bit bus (same as the 670 but may likely be clocked higher like the 770) but there has been no word on whether there will be a higher ram version available. However, there are 4GB versions of the 670 so one would be able to extrapolate that there will eventually be an introduction of 4GB versions of the 760 Ti.
