Through a few mishaps (unsupported mobo/ CPU combo), I am putting a Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 mobo with my AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE. I am using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus and would like to know if Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz SDRAM will fit under the heatsink. Not sure if all memory is the same height. If not, any suggestions. These will be in a Rosewill Challenger case. Thanks.
Thanks, git your response the same day you posted, but got tied up with another project. I was able to use the second pair (slots 2 and 4) but the fan was about 1/8 f and inch too farover touse slot 1. Okay though I am using 8GBs (2x$GB) which is fine for my daughter's new build.
Thanks Tradesman1, if, in the future, I decide to add more memory, I will raise it. There is barely enough room, but it will work for me. I'msure I'll have questions about other things soon. Thus, I think we could close this thread.
No problem, I'm running Tridents which are very tall, had to raise the fan about 1/2 inch and still works great, normally have my 3570K at 4.7, but even going up to 5.0 GHz with the fan raised, idle stay at about 40, it's a sweet cooler
Check your motherboard manual that the RAM is in the correct slots. While it'll work in any, you should try and get it into the preferred arrangement for 2 sticks. As Tradesman1 said, you can adjust the height of the fan on the clips. You can also put it on the other side of the heatsink from the RAM and have it pull air through the heatsink instead of pushing (makes very little difference to temps).
