I am planning to buy a intel 3570k processor
My pc specs:
Intel dh61ww
Corsair vs 650
Transcend 4gb ram
Hard disk seagate 1tb
Lg dvd rom
Nvidia zotac gtx 650ti boost.
Current processor intel i3 2100

Is my power supply sufficient if i upgrade my processor to 3570k and is there a better choice than 3570k(ill be upgrading my mobo after some time when i need to overclock)

More about : 3570k good gaming

Why are you going for i5 3570k?
Are you wishing to overclock? If yes, then you might want to opt for it.

But in every other case, for $50 more you can get i5 4670K. Its 4th Gen chip and is latest. Also it requires you to change your motherboard (LGA1150 socket) so after that you are probably future proof as 5th Gen should also support the current socket as Intel should not be changing it so frequently.

Get i5 4670K, its a better choice (also about 10% faster too).

Your PSU should be able to take the new processor very easily. It has low TDP. :)

yes but you'd want to change the mobo too as it will require a bios flash and in it you cant OC the i5. best if you go with i5-3470, almost same performance but suitable for that H61 mobo as they both dont let you OC [ your still gonna need a bios update though ]
EDIT: i noticed your gonna change your mopbo and oc so i guess i5*-3570K will be a good choice with a Z77 mobo. 4670K is also an option but it doesn't overclock as good as i5-3570K., as it tends to be hotter.

U mean 4670k is faster if i dont wish to oc and 3570k is better if i wish to oc

What would be the price difference between 3570k and 4670k

It's around $30, but it would make very little sense to purchase a 4670k with intent to overclock. The 4670 (note the lack of "k") is just about equal in price to the 3570k, and would be an excellent choice. As both thasan and luckiest charm have noted, Haswell overclocks poorly, though I feel that they somewhat overstate it.

Edit: It's worthy of note that there is a running debate as to whether the 4670k (and overclocking Haswell in general) is worthwhile, which has not yet been resolved, at least to my satisfaction.

It's like $25-50 depending on where you look (usually newegg/amazon/microcenter).

Personally, I really don't feel like you need to go for the core i5-4670k. It probably won't perform 10% faster than the core i5-3570k. Get the 3570k while its cheaper and a z77 board (something like an asrock z77 extreme 4, or something similar from asus or gigabyte). You'll save some money. I wouldn't recommend on upgrading again for a while anyways - by the time a new socket comes out for intel (or amd, should you choose that route next time around), you'd be forced to buy a new mobo.

Also, since you are planning to overclock, I would recommend getting an aftermarket cpu cooler/heatsink. The Coolermaster hyper 212 evo is a good, cheap one to start with. Noctua makes great coolers as well.

And to answer your original question, your PSU is definitely fine =)

Actually the thing with Haswell is that, if you grabbed the right piece, it would overclock damn a lot at respectable temperatures, but if you didn't got the right piece, then you are going to have some trouble overclocking.

So, if you want to take chance and try overclocking on Haswell, its not a bad idea as there are chances it might turn out to be a good chip. But if you don't want to take any chances for $50, i5 4670 would be the awesome choice. Its faster and more efficient than i5 3570K normal.

If you want same performance with i5 3rd Gen, overclock it. It should give you similar .. very similar performance as a i5 4670 would give.

Also, if you don't want to change motherboard now, you would have to change in future at some point of time. So its a better idea to go for Haswell, either K or non K model, and get LGA 1150 Z87 Motherboard than 3rd Gen.

are you using it on your H61 mobo, if so then you'd probably have to update your bios.

there is an option called bios flash or express flash or something on your bios loading page or something [ the first thing you see after turning your PC] from there you can flash/ update it.

and best mobo for the i5-3570K is Asrock Z77 extreme 4 imo. oh and another thing which company is your bios from?

The Z77 Pro3 isn't the most ideal mobo for overclocking, but it's functional.

Again, the Extreme4 is better, but the Pro3 and Pro4 are fine boards.

To the picture, I'm afraid I can't see it clearly enough to determine if there's been damage.

look up the beep codes, chances are all you need to do is hard reset your bios with the motherboard jumper, or its often a problem with ram, try re-seating the ram sticks and/or remove one and try them one at a time.

ASRock is a damn fine company, and I highly recommend them.

As said, the Pro4 or Pro3 should be fine (though I'm unsure if they fall within that price range).

that depends. is your exhaust fan plugged to a 4 pin connector or a 2/3 pin connector?

Both my processor and rear fan is connected to a 4 pin connector (cpu1 , cha1 on the mobo)
