Upgrading From Xp To Windows 7 (Portege M400)

I'm trying to upgrade my Portege M400's windows XP to Windows 7. But every time i try to upgrade it it says: windows cannot be installed to this disk. windows needs the driver for device toshiba raid. So i installed the Toshiba RAID drivers but the same message reappeared. This is really annoying. Can anyone help?

How are u upgrading. Via windows xp press install on the windows 7 setup ?. Or via bios and DVD clean install under DOS. If u try to upgrade from XP to 7 through Windows XP it will never work as there is no upgrade path. You will need to make a clean install though DOS. Which means restart and spam F12 delete or F2 keys until u enter the menu. F12/F10 is ususally boot menu. There u need to selected what device starts first and pick DVD. When windows loads it's disk you can install from there.

KEEP IN MIND. You will lose everything on whatever drive u choose to install it too. So make sure u back-up and download all drivers beforehand cause u won't have internet after finishing the install.

I know their is no upgrade path but i'm am pretty sure that i can still upgrade even with no upgrade path. Any other suggestions?

i suggest you check your system configuration first and then install windows 7 and the configuration need for window 7 are

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
