So I have just bought a new computer. I go on the internet to go to Norton and for some reason the internet is very very slow. All my other devices are working really fast. This computer has WIRELESS internet. I bought a special PCIE card to make it run faster, with an areal. I am getting almost full signal. Web browsing is very slow and when I play a game, e.g/ Starcraft 2. It constantly has to lag the game and eventually I get dropped.
Can anyone help me??? Thank you.

Reset your router. Does it matter if you re-orient your PC or the antenna?
What brand and model is the router, and the wireless card? I used to buy cheap versions of both, but after getting to test some dual-band routers and an adapter, will never do that again.

Router is about 2 years old. It is a Belkin G wireless modem router. I have a 300mbps PCIE card in my computer, with 2 ariels. My router is supposed to be 54mbps. But I have never met this. This is a brand new gaming computer and my old laptops and iPods work fast with it. Do you think maybe I need a new router or even a booster. (wireless repeater)??? Thanks for reply.

Hi
I have a Belkin router and it has been great.
Try changing the wireless channel ,it is normally 11 as a default.
Since you appear to be getting a nearly full signal it suggests that there may be conflict or noise on that channel.

Belkin is one of the few companies to have earned a place on my personal "Do Not Buy" list, in their case for generally sucking. I never had a Belkin router work reliably for more than a few days; typically losing ports within hours of putting them in service. Considering that wireless-N is now the standard, which is much faster than wireless-G, I would suggest upgrading. I have had good results from Netgear and D-Link. Linksys was formerly owned by Cisco, but was sold to Belkin, so I wouldn't trust them any more.
