Moved my budget up to $300.00 for graphics card.

Are this basically the same or what is the difference. Or should I be looking at something totally different for this price range?

These are exactly what you should be looking at for $300. The only real difference, unless I'm mistaken, is that the cooling solutions are different. Either should make you happy.

get the vapor x, it has better cooling. Other then that they are the same

I have to agree, although i have never used a 7950 vapor-x, I have used various others, ALL of them gave amazing cooling. The 5770 vapor-x i used to use was able to completely surpass the overdrive limits when overclocking.

Go for the Vapor-X as it has a better cooler and uses a custom PCB which would allow slightly higher OC
