The computer freezes and the monitor shows streaks of colors. You can still see the very last thing you were doing on the background but it has a bunch of colored lines and they flicker.

The computer was taken to techs who said it was the video card, and it is NOT the video card (3 included the original have been tested) they all do the same thing.

They finally came to the conclusion that the MotherBoard is somewhat fried. How can I test to find out if it is indeed the Mother Board. I have a report from the techs, and it shows the motherboard checks out. I did a memory test, the 4 2gb dimms check out. power supply is good. video cards are all good.

So any ideas would be amazing. Thank you!

First suspicion was the GPU. Since you state that it has been swapped with no change, my second suspicion is the power supply. HP is known for using crappy power supplies and 300w (as stated in the link you provided) is likely only a 250w with a peak of 300w. What did you use when you ran memory diagnostics? I'd always suggest running Memtest86+ (http://www.memtest.org) for memory diagnostics. Should be run atleast 3 consecutive tests, preferably over night.

Have you made sure all system drivers were up-to-date? How often do these freezes occur and can you reproduce it or is it sporadic?

I gave back the computer since it's being used for payroll.

Here's what I did do before that, I run a few benchmark test for the whole system. things seemed ok. Playing around I noticed that all 4 dimms kept making the system crash and not start at all, so I played around with the dimms, and it seems that all 4 work and start up fine when added individually. So I started up the system with each individual dimms, and when all 4 started, I tried one socket at a time and 2 seemed to crash and so I booted up with only 2 dimms and the sporadic crashes stopped and the system hasn't crashed in a week.

I agree that the power supply is crap!

Am I seeing things now? I'm thinking new motherboard and psu?

Hate sporadic crashes.

Yes it was a Memtest, and they checked out ok. all 4 did. so I'm at a lost really

Then it sounds like mobo or CPU, you mentioned a couple of them Crashed the system, might be a bad mobo (might check the traces leading to the slots for discoloration or scorch marks) or the MC (memory controller) having a problem with a channel - can generally check CPU in another same socket mobo, or mobo with a same socket CPU ---which is a pain, but sounds like you are in an office environment and may even have another of the same system available for TSing

Cool, just to clarify again, after removing two dimms the computer never crashed. The more you used the computer the quicker it would crash. and after a few tests, and removing the dimms the computer ran for 6 hours straight.

Still sort of sticks us with mobo OR CPU a bad channel on the mobo or a bad MC (memory controller) 1-3 I'm not positive on that mobo but generally ia A1 - B1 so seeing both channels, but not picking up the secondary slots, and the CPU is fully capable of running all four slots
