I recently managed to update my BIOS for my M5A97PRO using a Sempron 145 and a stick of 4GB HyperX Predator 1866Mhz borrowed from a friend. This system continued to work fine when the Sempron 145 was replaced with an FX8320. However, when I used my 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz RAM(1x8GB), the system would not POST(no beep) and nothing would appear on screen. The system recognised the RAM and it even passed the systems memOK test(Which it would never do with the Sempron), but as I said, it shows no sign of wanting to get into the BIOS.

Fairly sure it's not a pin on the CPU, since it seemed to read other RAM fine, but then this RAM has also been tested and confirmed working by a friend, I guess it must be an incompatibility of some sort.

Would sort of guess it's a BIOS problem then, if you could get to the BIOS we could look at what timings it's setting and the voltages and maybe fix it, but....sort of stuck here, there might be something an AMD pro could think of, I work on them and upgrade them, but don't build them so I don't spend near the time with AMD I do on Intel, sorry!

Could check with the mobo manufacturer, to see if they have anything on this
