ok so here are my system specs
cpu: amd fx 8150 8 core at 3.6ghz
mobo: gigabyte(not sure of model number0 but it is a 990fx chipset ud3
gpu: msi twin frozr 7950
psu: corsair hx 850
case: Ultra x10 etorque double tower

cooling so far: i have two thermaltake fans set to intake on the side panel, two stok case fans intake from the front cooling the hot swap bay, one exhaust stock fan at the back right under the io shield, a corsair h55 mounted on the top with the stock fan set to intake from the top and a thermaltake fan mounted on the second radiator mounting rack pointing at the rad intake fan. so all but one are set to intake.

heres my problem
my cpu is getting pretty damn hot while gaming. i idle at around 20-25 and get to about 35 degrees c when im browsing the web. as soon as i start up a game my cpu jumps straight to 50 plus and as soon as i start gaming, will go from 60-to even 90 degrees in a very short amount of time. (does this with all games) and while gaming i get super crazy fps drops. (im assuming this is from the temp being so hot) well anyways, im wanting to overclock this system both gpu and cpu but not until i can get my temps down, so my quetsion is. what would an optimal set up be? im planning on picking up a h100i and top mounting it with intake from the top. also planning on buying a full set of corsair sp120 fans. so i was gunna buy like 5 double packs of those. take a gander at the case online and youll see that this case has awesome water cooling and fan support, so can you guys help me set up my fans to get my temps down? I will eventually upgrade to a 480mm rad but for right now im just sticking with the h100i. thanks guys. also im new to this site so not sure if this belongs here.

im wondering if my cpu is damaged, because now that i think about it, even with an h55 it shouldnt be getting to 80 degrees.

Being that your rad is mounted up top (if I am understanding OP right) and you are intaking outside air thru the top into the case...

Based on stock value math and laws of physics, I would advise venting case air out thru the rad. You will increase total case airflow, utilize hot air rising, maintain positive case pressure, reduce unnecessary turbulance. Definitely check seating and PROPER application of TIM. The h100 will perform better, but you should be seeing better temps than you are now as is. Solve current issue first. Otherwise h100 will be a waste anyway
