So I recently built a computer. I have built a functioning computer before, it's what I'm on right now. But anyway, this new computer did not work. It won't even post. The fans don't even spin up. So I'm thinking one of the parts is DOA. But the weird thing is, every so often when I press the power button, the LED's on the front panel will turn on for a milisecond. And the power supply makes high pitched sounds every so often. I made sure all the connections were secure and in the right places. So I don't know what parts are broken, if any. I have no way to test this. I would like help on this ASAP.

I actually have an extra power supply. So I will have to test that. Do you think that could be the problem due to the weird high pitched sounds coming from the power supply?

can't get a good look at the power supplies information, but, usually the combos come with trash. and if the one you have home is trash you may not find out anything.

also, you have all the power connections firmly pressed into the motherboard? mobo has a 20/24pin and a 4/8 pin up by the processor.

it's in the upper left ( 4pin )

Okay, so I tried a different power supply. When I pressed the power button, there was a fire on the wire that connects to the power switch and the motherboard. What do I do now?

did you follow the wiring instruction from the motherboard manual?

pull the parts from the case. try and start the machine on a tabletop. use a jumper or alternate on/off switch to try and start machine.

OR HAVE SOMEONE THAT KNOWS COMPUTERS TO LOOK AT IT FOR YOU.

I built a computer with that exact same case. It is a pile of junk. The power supply was DOA. I ordered a new case and PSU and everything works fine now. The case is worthless. I loved it, but it didn't work.
