I'm going to get the FX-8350 and the GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 Motherboard. The website states that, "To enable AM3+ AMD FX-Series CPU support, please update your motherboard with the most current BIOS found in your motherboard’s download section." So i'm guessing that means i can't use my CPU unless i get a BIOS update. So how would i update my BIOS? I don't want to have to buy a cheap older CPU just to have the BIOS updated. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The F9 BIOS version was released in October 2012. Any board manufactured after that should support the CPU.
Are you able to check the motherboard's serial before buying the board (or ask the retailer about it)?
Another option would be choosing an ASUS board that features Flashback.

If you walk into a computer store open the mb box and on the mb.most times on the bios chip itself is a bios rev sticker. If your lucky the mb was made within last few months and has the bios file already flashed on the bios. If your buying from a big online retailer call them and there pre sales support staff. They can make sure the new mb is from newer stock with the right bios file. Another trick is call the mb vendor and ask when there bios was updated per product serial number. All vendors place a date code in the serial number so if there a defect for say week 30 mb they can post a ser range that will have the defect.

I'm ordering it from AMAZON. I live very far away so returning it is too much of a hassle and will probably cost me more than it's worth. Is it safe to assume that Amazon ships the newest revision boards?
