The i7 4700MQ is comparable to an i7 3740QM, and is 10% stronger than an i7 3630QM. As for IGP : the HD4600 is about 30% stronger than the HD4000 in the same conditions.

As far as a desktop comparison the 4700mq is comparable to the 4770 set to release later this year. For graphics get the the 4700, if you aren't a gamer I would stick with the 3630.

I am going to be using it for gaming, but how much better would the performance be of the i7 4700MQ vs the i7 3630QM, if the specs are exactly the same?

One has hd 4000 the other has hd 4600. In crysis 3 on med settings @ 720p the fps difference is 10 fps more on the 4600.
