So I just finished building my first computer! But Im worried that I didn't hook up the sata's to the optical and hard drive correctly.

This is what windows is telling me about my performance.

Processor AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor 7.8
Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB 7.8
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series 7.9
Gaming graphics 5868 MB Total available graphics memory 7.9
Primary hard disk 863GB Free (931GB Total) 5.9
Windows 7 Home Premium

System
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Model To be filled by O.E.M.
Total amount of system memory 8.00 GB RAM
System type 64-bit operating system
Number of processor cores 8

Storage
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total size of hard disk(s) 931 GB
Disk partition (C:)  863 GB Free (931 GB Total)
Media drive (D:)  CD/DVD

Graphics
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Display adapter type AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series
Total available graphics memory 5868 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 2048 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 3820 MB
Display adapter driver version 9.12.0.0
Primary monitor resolution 1280x1024
DirectX version DirectX 10

Network
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Network Adapter Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

Notes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The gaming graphics score is based on the primary graphics adapter. If this system has linked or multiple graphics adapters, some software applications may see additional performance benefits.

Now since the hard drive is slow, it brought down my total score to a 5.9 while everything is either 7.8 or 7.9.

Is the hard drive be rated so slow because I have it hooked up in the wrong sata port? I have a:

My mother board is the Gigabyte 97A-UD3

If someone could help me, I would be greatly appreciative. I just don't know where do go from here. I was thinking the subscore is low because I don't have a SSD but I just want to make sure.

ANY HDD will rate 5.9. Thats how it works,

so its installed correctly? I have it in sata port 0 while the optical is in sata port 1. Should I put the optical in sata port 2 or does it not matter?

Its installed just fine. Doesn't matter which port it is in.

As Tiny Voices said, any HDD will rate a 5.9. They're slow, there's no way to change the score that drive will generate. Buying a faster mechanical drive or an SSD drive would bump up the drive score, but no amount of "plug swapping" on the motherboard is going to magically make the hard drive perform faster than the way it was built to.
