I'm a student, and I'm going to be starting a master's program with a programming focus very soon. I've been running an overclocked FX 8320, and the compile times are painful. So, I've been looking around at better options that are going to save me time. I work mostly with C++ and Java in Linux using Eclipse. The 3930k seems like a good option, but since Haswell just came out, I'm looking at the 4770k too. Then there is the question of server hardware, which I know can be beneficial, but more expensive. Is the added cost that worthwhile? Since I am a student, budget is a factor, and I'd like to keep it as low as possible without really sacrificing functionality. I hope to eventually make some money with this thing. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Mostly the compiles that I have to do because I'm running Gentoo and some Android builds. Though I'm not working on any right now, I assume that the Gentoo compiles are a good indicator for future projects.
