Motherboard: msi z77ma-g45

Friend just got a new mobo and cpu, he has 4 sticks of 2gb ram, all the same ram, its fine if he puts the sticks in different channels but if he puts a 3rd stick then computer won't boot, no post screen. Only boots when he puts the sticks in different colors, won't boot if they're in the same channel. Any ideas?

Memory compatibility is guaranteed within each memory kit. If you have a 4GB (2 x 2GB) kit and double it with another 4GB (2 x 2GB) kit, then say, "all the same RAM" and wonder why it doesn't work. The reason is that mixing memory kits, regardless of brand or model, is not recommended and not guaranteed to work. By mixing memory kits together, there may be compatibility issues such as unable to boot or unable to operate at rated specifications.

I looked and didn't see any bent pins, it does not boot with 1 RAM stick in each slot. Only boots with 1-2 RAM sticks, if their in different channels.

It's not mixing of kits, its was all from the same computer, I bought a desktop with 4x2gb
